                | Objective To investigate the association of CXCR4 and VEGF-C with lymphatic metastasis in gastric cancer. Methods The expressions of CXCR4 and VEGF-C proteins and mRNAs in human gastric cancer were detected by immunohisto- chemistry and RT-PCR, respectively, The relationship between CXCR4 and VEGF-C expressions and lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer was analyzed. Results CXCR4 and VEGF-C proteins were positively expressed in gastric cancer tissue, while they were not detected in pericancerous gastric tissue. The positive rate of CXCR4 and VEGF-C protein expression in gastric cancer tissue was significantly higher than that in pericancerous gastric tissue(P〈0.05 or 0,01). There were significant differences in positive expression rates of CXCR4 and VEGF-C proteins and mRNAs among stage NO, N1+ N2 and N3 gastric cancers (P〈 0.05 或 0.01). The expression level of CXCR4 was positively correlated with that of VEGF-C (r=0.355, P〈0.01). Conclusion The synergy of CXCR4 and VEGF-C was closely related to the lymphatic metastasis of gastric cancer, and further study on the mechanism may has important clinical value in predicting lymph node metastasis and prognosis. |
