Abstract: |
Objective To assess the efficacy of Kangfuxin liquid in treatment of recurrent oral ulcers (ROU) and related mechanism. Methods Ninety patients with ROU treated in our hospital from May 2010 to M arch 2014 were included in the study. Patients were randomly divided into two groups: 45 cases in kangfuxin group were treated with Kangfuxin liquid and interferon-α2b and 45 cases in control group were treated with interferon-α2b alone. The efficacy rate of two groups was evaluated after treatment. The streptococcus sp., Verllonella sp. and Neisseria sp. in oral samples were detected by RT-PCR and the levels of CD4+, CD25+, Foxp3+ T in peripheral blood of two groups were measured by flow cytometry before and after treatment. Results Before treatment, the contents of streptococcus sp. and Verllonella sp. and the levels of CD4+, CD25+, Foxp3+ in two groups were significantly lower than those in normal group (P<0.05), while those indicators were increased after treatment (P<0.05). However, all of these indicators in control group were still lower than those in Kangfuxin group and normal group(P<0.05), while there was no significant difference between Kangfuxin group and normal group (P >0.05). The overall effective rate in Kangfuxin group was higher than that in control group (91.11% vs 73.33%, P<0.05). Conclusion Kangfuxin liquid is effective in treatment
of recurrent oral ulcer, which is associated with the increased levels of streptococcus sp. and Verllonella sp. in oral cavity and the improved lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of patients. |
