Abstract:
Objective To investigate the expression of angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) and its receptor Tie-2 (Tie-2) in cervical cancer and their clinical significance. Methods The protein and mRNA expressions of Ang-2 and Tie-2 in 60 cervical cancer tissue samples and 60 normal cervical tissue samples were detected by immunohistochemical technique, RT-PCR and Western blot, respectively. The association between Ang-2, Tie-2 expression and clinical features was analyzed by Spearman analysis. Results Ang-2 and Tie-2 were detected in the cytoplasm of cancer cells. The expression of Ang-2 and Tie-2 were significantly higher in cervical cancer tissues than that in normal tissues (all P<0.05). The expression of Ang-2 and Tie-2 was significantly higher in patients with lymph node metastasis and clinical stage III-IV than that in patients without lymph node metastasis and with clinical state I-II (all P<0.05). Expression of Ang-2 was positively correlated with expression of Tie-2 (r=0.847 9, P<0.01). Conclusion The expressions of Ang-2 and Tie-2 are up-regulated in cervical cancer, particularly in late stage cancer with lymph node metastasis, which indicates that Ang-2 and Tie-2 may play an important role in the progress of cervical cancer.
